In 2023, Baloji directed his first feature film, Augure. Four EPs were inspired by this film, featuring collaborations with artists with distinctive styles (Sampa the Great, Mayra Andrade, Jamilia Woods and Metronomy). Each instalment takes the perspective of a character from the film, blending hip-hop, Afrobeats, electro, traditional songs and Congolese rumba. Baloji’s concert at the Palais de Tokyo is thus presented as both a continuation of and an introduction to the film, which is being screened the following week.
