César Chevalier

Born in 1989, César Chevalier lives and works wherever the harvest calls.

After studying philosophy, he joined the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris where he developed his practice of sculpture. In 2015 he co-founded DOC, a production and distribution space composed of artists’ studios in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, and a place for mutual aid and sharing practical and theoretical knowledge. He guides the ship until 2017, co-creating the free university and meetings around poetry, theater and politics. At the same time, César Chevalier works as an Art Deco furniture restorer. This learning of new techniques guides his practice towards the construction of a sculpture of use that he presents in group exhibitions, notably at DOC, at Limbes (2018, Saint-Étienne), at 6B (2014, Saint-Denis) and at the Rouart workshop (2013 and 2014, Paris).

César Chevalier is building a traveling wine collection, partly consumed and partly archived. He has been training in viticulture and oenology for several years with different actors in wine production.
