Magazine PALAIS #02

Editorial by Marc-Olivier Wahler

Physicists place a short horizontal bar above a letter to identify antimatter particles. Drawing freely on this annotation, which signals a form of inversion, the Palais de Tokyo is offering M, News from the Reversed World, a series of projects inspired by the idea of reversal.
From cybernetics to situationism, via the theory of evolution and quantum physics, this second issue of PALAIS / proposes a look at works that behave like oscillators, bridges or tipping points of reality between different polarities.

“The ratio a/b is not all in a number c such that a/b=c but in the sign ( / ) that separates a and b” said Duchamp. Art, understood in this sense, is no longer a result or a product, but the fraction bar itself, the discrete sign of a transformation, the operator of numerous reversals.
